Funding arrives for CCTV cameras

Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan last week announced the delivery of $200,000 funding, for CCTV cameras in Grafton and South Grafton. Mr Hogan said that prior to the last election he was approached by local businesses asking for funding for these cameras. “This funding will allow a roll-out of cameras and equipment in Grafton and South Grafton CBDs,” Mr Hogan said. Grafton Chamber of Commerce executive member Mark Butler said that the chamber welcomed the announcement. “We’ve been chasing funding for over 10 years,” Mr Butler said. “The last application which was made two years ago was unsuccessful. “Mr Hogan’s election commitment of $200,000 has come through and we are now in the process of moving forward and getting organised to install the systems. “We are seeking expressions of interest from businesses in South Grafton and Grafton and working closely with police from Coffs/Clarence local area command, looking at how we can best utilise the systems, to get the best results. “We are looking at businesses that are interested in having cameras positioned both inside and outside their premises. This will aid police in the prevention of crime and assist with their follow up investigations. “It’s a vital thing that the chamber is doing to help business and the community to reduce vandalism and anti social behaviour and the Chamber would like to thank Mr Hogan and the Federal Government.”
