The Federal Budget will be brought down on May 11.
Along with many others the Grafton Loop of the Knitting Nannas Against Gas & Greed don’t believe the Federal Government’s “Gas-led Recovery” is in the community interest. There are much better ways of recovering from COVID than giving billions to of taxpayer dollars to wealthy oil and gas companies.
The Grafton Knitting Nannas held a knit-in outside Kevin Hogan’s Grafton office on Thursday 22 April.
This was part of a community FUND OUR FUTURE NOT GAS campaign which, in the lead up to the federal budget, highlights the folly of the Federal Government’s gas-led recovery plans. Other Nanna Loops around the state are involved. So is the climate advocacy group 350.org.au as well as GetUp.
We asked passers by what they would like to see in the budget that will be of more benefit to them and our local community than spending billions of taxpayers’ money on gas infrastructure.
As a follow up we will letting the Member for Page Kevin Hogan about locals’ ideas of where government money should be spent.
