Free family BBQ and SES display

A display by Lower Clarence SES units and a free family BBQ sponsored by the Lions Club of Maclean will be held at McLachlan Park in Maclean on Sunday November 10 starting at 10.30am.

SES road crash crews from Maclean and Yamba will be in action at the River Street car park while flood boat crews demonstrate rescue techniques on the river. The SES mascot Paddy Platypus will be there plus other fun activities are planned for the young ones. Families are invited to take a ride on the SESflood boats.

Maclean Unit commander, Mark Duckworth, said that the SES is always on the lookout for new members. Similar to the Rural Fire Service volunteers who worked so well during the recent bushfires, the SES relies on its members to assist the community during storms and floods. He said: “As storm season approaches this will be a great opportunity to see what the SES does and enjoy a free sausage sizzle on the riverbank courtesy of the Maclean Lions Club.

Mr Duckworth said that people wishing to join the SES can visit the NSW SES website or come and meet other volunteers at McLachlan Park on Sunday.
