For the golf deprived

With persistent wet weather over the past three weeks and local flooding occurring, as a result, golf has certainly taken a hit.

The rain has been relentless and there have only been a couple of afternoons when play has been permitted on the Yamba front 9.

Throughout this sustained rainy period, many of our ladies have taken advantage of the Simulator which has been a recent addition to the Pro Shop. It’s been the perfect remedy for a golfing fix when the course has been unavailable. Available for lessons with Jamie Corkill (Head Professional), club fittings or a fun, social occasion to share with friends or family, the Simulator is available to hire for members and visitors alike. It’s a fabulous way to spend an hour or two.

Obviously, our upcoming rounds have been impacted with the 2nd Monthly Medal postponed twice already and it goes without saying that Penny Cope, our Captain, has been working very hard to reschedule events in amongst an already crowded calendar of events.

One event which will go ahead, weather permitting, will be this Wednesday’s ever-popular 4-person Irish teams’ event. It’s always a fun-filled day with lots of ladies’ keen to be involved. This year, we have prizes for Best Dressed and Best Decorated cart, so we are encouraging our ladies to arrive in green or orange in preparation for a big day of golf.

Our thoughts go to all who have been impacted by the recent flooding and we can only hope the weather Gods are kind to us this week and the weeks to come.
