For the Fallen – lest we forget
Every year Mareeba Aged Care in Maclean remembers our fallen heroes and those who served our country. This year saw a full house with the spirit of Anzac alive at a special service for residents and families celebrated by Mareeba’s Chaplain Brett Rowe.
The truly moving event acknowledged qualities of courage, mateship and sacrifice. Despite the years passing, Anzac Day continues to have a deep meaning for many Mareeba residents.
The service included a Prayer to the Fallen, The Silence and The Ode of Remembrance, presented by Mr John Fitzpatrick.
It was followed by a moving placing of the wreath of remembrance by Mareeba residents (pictured), Mr Jack Pond, Mrs Dorothy Scott, and husband of a Mareeba resident, Mr John Fitzpatrick. A truly moving ceremony with those in attendance experiencing feelings of gratitude, empathy and respect for our fallen heroes. A morning tea followed with homemade Anzac biscuits were the order of the day.
