Arriving at a new venue is always going to be an adventure, but it is also a mystery, and to sit back and listen to the comments, soon lets you know if we have a winner or a fizzer.
Broadwater was a winner, with 27 vehicles following the club signage to arrive at the private oasis. Our marquee and gazebo was erected to give the members some extra shade. There was a lovely sea breeze to keep the temperature down a fraction, along with an odd shower which didn’t deter our mob’s happy atmosphere.
Members enjoyed their usual daily morning and afternoon tea, some walked the beach, while some fished, with Don managing to land a few. Disc bowls were played, along with raffle dice. Our winner this month was Carol Sheahan. The popular grocery grab was hotly contested with member’s jostling for some items such as wine, coffee and tea. The winner this time was Rex Watkins.
We welcomed visitors from Darling Downs, Brisbane and Lennox Heads who all jumped into the spirit of things. With St Patricks Day approaching we had a green theme. Deb, Ray, Nancy, Barry & Neil all dressed the part. Ray even had a pot of gold outside his motorhome, while Lyn brought along her two ‘leprechauns’.
Barry Holmes provided some great entertainment at Happy Hour on his guitar and included some Irish songs for all to have a sing along. Saturday night we all enjoyed a great barbie under the stars followed by a hilarious game of charades. Sunday we all
departed for home, with some travelling via Evans Head for fish & chips on the river.
Our April weekend, we will be at Lilydale.
Monday April 4 we will have a stand at the Seniors Expo at Yamba Bowling Club from 10.30am to 2.30pm Just look for the purple shirts with the jacaranda on the back and come and say hello. We would love to see you there and hopefully give you some information on our chapter of the CMCA.
