Fibromyalgia Support Group

March’s meeting saw a friendly new face at our table, and we were very pleased to welcome her into the fold.

People living with fibromyalgia face several challenges throughout their lives. As well as all the physical symptoms the emotional trauma faced by the person and their family can be quite substantial. Fibromyalgia brings a whole new way of life, a new set of rules, where you, your family and friends cannot guarantee any plans that are made. Fibromyalgia holds you and yours’s hostage as you never know how you are going to feel from one day to the next. Fibromyalgia has rendered you unreliable. True and closest friends understand this, but many people do not. It can become an emotional roller coaster, full of guilt, regret, and a longing for your pre-fibro life.

It is vital to maintain a good support system of people who understand the obstacles faced, and somewhere you can voice your frustrations. Even though people like to offer solutions, remedies, and advice with the very best of intentions, only those that have fibromyalgia can begin to understand some of the challenges involved.

Our group meets the third Wednesday of the month at the Grafton District Services Club. The April meeting is on Wednesday 20th at 10am.
