Ferry Park Gallery – Still going strong

It seems there are a few rumours going around that the gallery at Ferry Park in Maclean is closing down due to the new highway. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

The turnoff to Maclean, from the new highway, will still be at Ferry Park with the proposed service centre being situated on the other side of the Ferry Park carpark. In addition, it looks like Ferry Park will be the first stopover with toilets on the highway heading north from Glenugie. So, we are very confident that we will be here well into the future.

The Ferry Park Gallery is run by the Lower Clarence Arts and Crafts Association, a not for profit community organisation operated by volunteers. The main objective of the Association is ‘to provide an organisation for artists and artisans and those persons interested in the arts and cultural activities in the Lower Clarence District’.

The Association does this by operating Ferry Park Gallery, running the annual open 8×8 art competition, the Annual Clarence River Arts and Crafts Exhibition, the Phyllis Austin Competition for members; groups for Artists, patchworkers and quilters, spinners and weavers and creative embroiderers. We also engage tutors for workshops and exhibitions along with providing bus trips for members. The Association has a proud long history of participation and support in many local community events, projects and fund raising.

We are always looking for new members who are interested in the arts and people wanting to exhibit and sell their art and craft creations at the gallery. The commission for sales is a very competitive 25% with 1 day per month participation on the gallery roster. It’s a great way to build new friendships, share ideas with likeminded people and contribute to a community organisation.

A lot of our sales at the gallery are to passing interstate and overseas travellers with some being regular visitors who always stop on their way past.

Come and join us and take advantage of the direct access to passing trade. If you want more information about becoming a member email – info@ferrypark.net or go to our internet site http://ferrypark.net/
