Ferry Park Artist of the Month for April is Maria Paull
Maria initially studied visual arts at UWS Nepean, intending to become an art teacher.
Maria describes her current works at Ferry Park Gallery as “Despite my formal training in drawing, painting, and leadlight, I enjoy experimenting with different mediums and styles, often bridging the gap between craft and art. Currently, I am exploring the process of tie-dyeing, which challenges my sense of control and predictability typically associated with painting and drawing. Every preconceived notion I have about how a dyed item will turn out is thrown out the window once it is washed and unwrapped. It truly is a whimsical and unpredictable medium—no two items are ever the same, regardless of the intention or technique used; each outcome is completely random.”
Maria’s works include T-shirts, sweatshirts, dresses, kids clothing and onesies in her distinct designs. She also has crocheted rugs, hats and shawls in a colourful display.
