Exercise should be fun believes Grafton trainer

Free sessions on Monday & Tuesday

You’re going to see people dancing the macarena in the Grafton Primary School playground next week. If you don’t want to miss out on all the excitement, keep reading.

Lois Robinson believes exercise shouldn’t feel like exercise. It should be fun. The bubbly Grafton trainer is hosting two beginners low intensity group sessions on August 3 and 4 to help locals boost their overall health and wellbeing, increase muscle and bone strength and improve their balance.

The only requirement is participants have to be prepared to laugh.

“Laughter is great medicine,” Ms Robinson said.

“We’ll be doing a range of fun activities including dancing, weights, balancing exercises, playing paper, scissors, rock, and a few cognitive exercises where everyone will be using their opposite sides and testing their skills.

“People can get it wrong and laugh at themselves, each other and at me too.

“It’s a lot of fun.”

Ms Robinson is running the group sessions as free trials. She is encouraging Clarence Valley residents, especially women aged 45 and over, to attend. As a passionate advocate for women’s health, Ms Robinson said pelvic floor and core strengthening exercises play an important role and she is looking forward to welcoming women approaching menopause and more mums into the groups next week.

Ms Robinson said group exercises are about encouraging people together, adding the free trials will feature something for everyone.

“Everything will be modified for the individual,” she said.

“Come and give it a go and see if it’s for you.

“If I can help you get started, we can work forward together.”

The group sessions will be held on Monday at 5:45pm and Tuesday at 6:45am in the playground on the corner of Mary and Oliver Street.

Anyone interested in participating is advised to contact Ms Robinson on 0429 930 221.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only 20 places will be available per group.
