Everything you wanted to know about ‘Tim the Bream’ fishing competition at Yamba

How to enter All you need to do is go to stickytickets.com.au/63725/tim_the_bream__yamba_fishing_classic_2018. All adults, 18 years and over are required to hold a NSW recreational fishing license unless they are in an exempt class. Fees stated on the entry form do not include StickyTickets booking fee. Tickets will also be available at Yamba Bait & Tackle, The Bait Place & Marina Boat & Tackle in Yamba. Before entering, you must read the rules and conditions. Entry fee schedule – 2018

    Fish categories and size limits The following species are eligible for heaviest/longest catch of the competition and are to be weighed and/or measured on a Bragmat live at Ford Park Yamba: No undersized fish will be accepted.

  Important information Do I have to fish all weekend? NO – the event runs for (2) days and you can fish for one day or all weekend. Weigh in will occur 8am – 4pm with final weigh in at 4pm on the Sunday. Any fish caught after 4pm Saturday will be included in Sundays weigh in. Overnight weigh in will occur only for large jewfish or flatheads at Ford Park. Fishing competition rules Cash prizes for this competition relate to specifically tagged bream. One Fish – “Tim the Bream” is tagged for $20,000, and another 10 bream are tagged at $1,000. Tagged bream are released under supervision of the Department of Fisheries in the Clarence River at Yamba in the week prior to the competition. The prizes for these fish will only be awarded if they are caught between the competitions hours from 6am on Saturday 1st September 2018 until 4pm on Sunday 2nd September 2018 by a person registered in the competition. Why does my fish have to be alive? Yamba Rotary recognises the importance of ensuring that the event remains environmental sustainable by remaining a catch and release competition. All competition fish accepted will be live fish ONLY. Fish must be in a healthy condition so as they can be released to be eligible for entry into any category of this competition. Live fish are to be brought to Ford Park Yamba for weighing and/or measurement and will be placed in a holding tank for viewing. All fish will be released in the Clarence River at the end of the competition Fishing boundaries The area of operations for this competition run from the eastern side of the Harwood Bridge to the river mouth at Yamba and include all estuaries east of the bridge. Fishing can be conducted from the southern and northern banks of the river or by boat.
