With school holidays now being enjoyed it was lovely to have Eli, Oliver and Thea Waite join us for competition on Tuesday evening of last week and all in attendance were very impressed with their swimming abilities, especially Thea who has only just turned six.
Adam Pearce also decided to give the winter competition a try and was given a warm welcome.
A very strong male line-up made it to the final of the 25m sprint. Richard Sear, Damien O’Mahony. Geoff Simkus and David Moon stepped onto the blocks as the starter called their handicap.
With only seven seconds separating the four swimmers it was a bunched field as they covered the distance, but it was Damien who scored the win with “Searsy” just .25 behind him and David took third place.
A fifty-metre relay was a slight change to our usual program and the lucky couples making the final were Jenny Vickery and Adam Pearce, Andrew Madden and Damien O’Mahony and David Moon and Yvonne Shorrock.
This event was hotly contested but the team of Shorrock and Moon were just too strong, touching the finish with an almost perfect time. Coming home in second place were Madden and O’Mahony recording a slightly slow time of 1.57 off nominated and third place went to Jenny and Adam who were about six seconds slow.
To round off the night of events the 25m B B & B was staged but only three starters were on the blocks due to one whole heat being disqualified for speeding.
Hoping to take the points in this race were Richard Sear, Damien O’Mahony and David Moon.
Richard unfortunately kept the run of disqualifications going, breaking by 1.94 which left the win to be picked up by “Marno” and second place to “Mooney”.
A reminder to all members that our presentation night is being held on May 28 so it is time to return any trophies you may have to T & S CLASSIC Trophies.
