Evening VIEW gets a heart start

Gayle Doe and Felicity Hempenstall, about to demonstrate the use of the defibrillator. Image: Contributed.
Our members were giving our guest speaker Gayle Doe, Director of Community Service Projects for Yamba Rotary their full attention at our last meeting, as she demonstrated how to use the 24hr defibrillators that have just been installed around Yamba. She gave us the knowledge to be confident enough to operate these machines. All you have to do is to listen and follow easy instructions to help save a life. Any apprehension we may have had was very quickly dispelled, there was a rush to try to bring the dummy to life. Signage will soon be in place to guide you to the nearest unit. Darlene Watkins is our September guest speaker. She has a very interesting hobby, fossicking. I hear that she has had some amazing finds which will be shared with us, wonder what they are? Our club would like to acknowledge the passing of one of our esteemed members, Audrey Robinson OAM. The formation of both Evening and Day VIEW clubs was due to her. Audrey was an active member, always first to volunteer for the many positions she held. We offer our deepest sympathy to her family. She has gone but never forgotten by her many friends in VIEW. Our next meeting is to be held on September 4 at the usual venue, Yamba Shores Tavern from 6.30 for a 7pm start. Please contact Marlene on 6645 8721 or 0403 990 959 with acceptance and menu choice, or apology no later than Friday 1st. If you would like to join our happy group, please contact Marlene to book in, we will make you very welcome. Friends are the family you choose. Jan McKay
