While the 2021 NSW Local Government elections will be held on December 4, early voting is now open, and any person enrolled to vote is eligible to do so by pre-poll.
Residents can vote at the Christ Church Cathedral offices at 8 Duke Street, Grafton, and at the Clarence Valley Region Returning Officers premises at 48 River Street, Maclean.
Both locations are open daily between 9am and 5pm until Saturday.
Pens are provided and all attendees must sign in using the QR code and follow the advice and directions of electoral officials.
Clarence Valley resident Mia Thornton said while she is still deciding who to vote for, she said it is great that locals can vote ahead of the election and “beat the rush on the day.”
“It’s especially convenient for people who are going away and won’t be in town on the actual day,” she said.
“I’m definitely going to vote before election day, but I’m still deciding who to give my main preferences to because there are around seven or eight candidates I really like.
“I think we’ll absolutely see some new faces on council after the election.”
Applications for postal voting are also open.
