Donation of books and teaching resources to Samoan schools

Ed,

Greg and I would like to publicly thank all the wonderful people in the Clarence Valley who have so willingly given their time and effort to collect and donate library books and teaching and classroom resources to the Agape School, a Samoan Independent Seventh Day Adventist Primary School and to Chanel College, a Catholic Secondary School in Samoa.

Thank you to all our friends who have been so supportive and have donated books and resources as well as their time and vehicles to transport all 170 boxes to Ipswich where the Samoan  Independent Seventh Day Adventist Church community raised the money to send the boxes in a container to Samoa. All being well, the ship should arrive in Samoa later this week.

Our heartfelt thanks to Ms Meghanne Wellard, the Director of Schools in Grafton who urged all the schools in the Valley to support the cause, and to all the wonderful schools who donated everything, from beautiful library reference books to text books and spelling programmes. Wooli Public School, Coutts Crossing Public School, Doubtful Creek Public School, Grafton High School, Grafton Public School, Westlawn Public School and South Grafton High School, thank you. We can assure you every book and every item will be appreciated, loved and used. The class sets of dictionaries, readers and text books will be especially appreciated by the teachers.

Thank you Maclean Rotary Club and in particular, Anne Farrell, Dick Richards and Greg Saul who so generously gave their time and helped to source some wonderful books and boxed them up ready to send. These wonderful story books alone are enough for the Agape School to start their library.

To the Book Warehouse in Grafton, thank you for the wonderful library reference books, I am sure they will be treasured and will help to stimulate the children’s curiosity about countries other than Samoa.

To the South Grafton Helicopter Op Shop and their wonderful staff who found unbelievable treasures from books to sporting equipment as well as encyclopaedias and dictionaries.

Thank you Erin and the Clarence Valley home schooling group who donated some wonderful books to Chanel College. These will be very much appreciated by the Chanel Staff.

Greg and Felicity Widseth, South Arm
