Dining with the councilors

On the evening of Monday March 21, the Yamba Chamber of Commerce hosted an event as part of the NSW government’s small business month programme.

The Chamber invited its members to dine with our Clarence Valley councilors, including Mayor Ian Tiley, who filled the attendees in on what the Council has been up to, along with some of their plans and goals for the future. Guests enjoyed a Chinese banquet at Toms Chinese Restaurant in Yamba where the relaxing and casual atmosphere encouraged a lot of great conversations between the business owners and councilors.

With so many challenges for businesses over the last two years, a close working relationship with the council is important in ensuring business bounces back and prosper in the future. There are a lot of big issues facing all businesses as we move into the future and it is grassroots dialogue, like the ones had on Monday night that allow council to be better informed about the needs of businesses in Yamba and therefore implement solutions that work.

To sum it up, there was music, feasting, some laughs and some business talked, all along with a few drinks, which equalled stronger ties between the Yamba business community and the councilors who represent them.

The Yamba Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all who attended, as well as the NSW government for their support for small businesses through the ‘Small business month’ grants scheme.
