Darrie Nightingale and Jeannie Doolan are Yamba’s 2016 Foursomes Champions

cvi   There were 64 contestants for the Foursome Championships at Yamba on a chilly, but sunny, Wednesday. Winning A Grade and achieving the title of Foursomes Champions were Darrie Nightingale and Jeannie Doolan who attained a score of 131. Runners-up were Janine Zeitsch and Janelle Carpenter 133. B Grade winners were Rin Hulka and Tina Downes finishing with 159 c/b from Jenny Muir and Glenda Smith also 159. Net winners in A Grade were Jean Whitby and Lyn White 109.75 followed by Barbara Moore and Robyn Brockwell 110.5. B Grade net winners were Anne Schumacher and Kim Lipscombe 119.25 with Gillian Holst and Jane Bonner runners-up with 121.5. Pro balls went to 117. There were no NTPs and no 9 holers’ competition but give-away prizes were won by Di Sweetman – Civic Video; Lorraine Bentley – Priceline Pharmacy; Phyllis Telfer – Spar Express; Yamba and Jenny Muir – Yamba Florist. The raffle was won by Lexie Walker and raised $121. Friday’s Single Stableford attracted 45 players and Suzanne Scott won A Grade with 40 points from Glen Czarnota 39. B Grade winner was visitor, Shirley Mulligan 36 with Alison Caller taking second place 35. Balls were awarded to 33 and pins were won by Trish Hall – Tom’s Chinese Restaurant 3, Tricia Gosling – Retireinvest 3/2, Virginia Moore – Peter Campbell Physiotherapy 9, Darrie Nightingale – Kitchen to Table 10, Jennifer Fagan – Yamba’s Fisho 12, Alison Caller – Wato’s Fish & Burgers 17, and Jenny Dewar – Yamba Pharmacy 17/2. Saturday began as a chilly day but soon warmed up under a clear blue sky. Yamba golf course saw 12 ladies competing in the Single Stableford with Kathy Parker winning on 35 points. Kathy also won the Nearest to the Pin and Trish Hall was r/up with 32 points. Pauline McKinnon
