There is a reason why the ‘A Little Bit of Culture’ group has over 120 members. Group leader Patricia Kan is brilliant at finding out about and organising trips to some wonderful shows, besides doing her usual Tuesday ‘Movie meetings’ in Yamba.
On Sunday 22nd members jumped on the bus to Coff’s Harbour for lunch followed by the wonderful concert performance of Jane Rutter (legendary Australian flautist) and the multi faceted Peter Cousens, who was born in Tamworth and I believe has connections in Yamba. What a breathtaking display of talent.
Patricia has bookings for other upcoming productions, such as The Proms at the Saraton Theatre Grafton and Muriel’s Wedding, which has had great reviews, at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
The 50 romantics (members and guests) who will be boarding the ferry at the Yamba wharf from 3.45pm on Thursday September 26 for the ‘twilight time cruise’ are reminded to wear their badges and bring a light jacket in case the weather is inclement. We will be returning to the wharf at 6pm, after enjoying entertainment by the duo ‘Full Circle’ and indulging in the hot and cold buffet on board.
Two CRU3A members – Jan Hudson and Marg Morgan will have their art exhibited at the Yamba Museum from October 4 to 22. Members are invited to the Exhibition Opening on Saturday October 5 at 2pm at The Old Kirk, Yamba Museum, River Street Yamba. Bubbles and finger food will be available on arrival at the opening.
Lorraine Kerr, group leader of ‘Almost Back to Basics Camping’ has advised that the camp set for Little Stix River on Wednesday to Monday October 16-21 is still on at this stage. There have been some concerns about the fires near Ebor, as far as she knows they were about 20kms north of Ebor which has not affected the camp site. She will make further enquiries and send out an email to confirm early in October.
On Tuesday November 5 Australia comes to a halt. So if you would like to have a fun day, keep your eyes open for the CRU3A bookings for tables at the Bowlo Melbourne Cup seafood buffet. You will pay the Bowlo fee, but we will have special activities and prizes for those at our tables.
On December 5 we are holding our CRU3A combined Christmas party at the Yamba Shores Tavern at 4pm until 7pm.
If you are a newcomer to this area, I strongly recommend that you join CRU3A and get involved in some of the 35 groups we have to offer. There is no better way to meet the locals.
