Coutts Crossing croquet new Committee

At its AGM on Monday September 20, the club elected a new Committee.

President is Simon Cook; Vice President – Marilyn Wilson; Treasurer – Peter Deeth; Secretary – Peter Martin and Committee members – Robyn Walters, Paul Schofield and Rusty Case. Paul Schofield was elected Club Captain for the coming year. The outgoing Committee was thanked for their efforts in what was a difficult year due to weather and Covid. However playing standards have improved significantly with the first State Championships being won both in Ricochet Doubles and Golf Croquet doubles The future looks bright.

There was a small group for Ricochet Tuesday with Wayne Gadke playing well and Louise Lowe enjoying her comeback.

In AC the performance of the week, and possibly her best ever, was by Gillian Martin. Husband Peter started with an eleven hoop turn and at one point led by 14-2, but inspired play and greatly improved strategy led Gillian to eighteen hoops to one thereafter and a 23-15 win.

In GC Sheila Foley and Yvonne Gillett each ran a hoop to hoop while Bev Brayshaw jawed two very long attempts. Marj Astbury was back and playing well.

Dave Norris was in form Saturday with some excellent jump shots. Pat MacLennan continues her amazing accuracy around the hoops. Frank Mack’s lay off did him no harm: on Saturday he was playing very well.

New players from within our LGA are invited to learn croquet, seven days a week. Just call 0438 999 204 for details.

The Club GC Doubles Championship which was curtailed by the Covid lock down, will be completed in the coming month.
