Country music at the Yamba Bowlo

Glenn Massey’s performance at the December 8Muster, along with an enviable list of walk-ups, bought to a close yet another wonderful year of monthly entertainment.

As previously documented, regardless of the excellent programs that have been presented during that period our audience numbers are just not keeping pace with the costs of staging our Musters. It has become more apparent over recent years that the style of music we continue to provide and is enjoyed by so many, is deemed a generational thing and lacks the support of the younger generations. To this end over the last twelve months we have added both Paul Agar (pedal steel) and Mitch McClennan (lead guitar) to our backing group on a more permanent basis. Another initiative that has been flouted is to reduce the frequency of guest artists and be in the position of offering some of our excellent walk-ups more time on stage. This move alone would certainly cut costs, but possibly negate the increase in audience numbers that is vital to our ongoing viability.

Enough of that. This coming Sunday January 12 we are fortunate to be able to enjoy the talents of Banora Point based couple Tricia Grey and Brian Elliott on stage. Both accomplished individual artists have now combined into a very classy duo. Tricia performed in the Brisbane – Toowoomba region, while Brian with his sax and vocals toured Australia with the band Impax supporting Little Patty, Johnny Ashcroft, The Kinsmen and the like. He now hosts a local radio gig ‘Blue Tuesday’ on Gold Coast 101.3 FM.

Music noon till 4pm, meals, snacks available, entry $5, includes afternoon cuppa.
