Ed,
It’s good to be able to back our Council for their efforts to try to ensure that River Street in Maclean is now safer for all road users.
River Street is Maclean’s main road is now a practical example to other towns of how simple traffic calming measures reduce traffic speed and make road travel safer.
And this road upgrade incorporates a separated shared path to enhance the safety for pedestrians, those on mobile scooters and bike riders and to promote active transport for adults who no longer drive cars and for children who today spend endless hours in front of a computer screen.
But to make shared paths safer for pedestrians whose hearing isn’t as good as it used to be, wouldn’t it be good if shared path users passing pedestrians rang their bell each time they rode past?
Again, Clarence Valley Council, many thanks for your smart transport move.
