Contractors encouraged to register interest

Local contractors looking to get work on the construction of the new Clarence Valley Council depot in Grafton are being encouraged to register on a database the council is compiling. Mayor, Richie Williamson, said the council was putting the database together so it could be distributed to potential tenderers to assist them in the development of their submissions for the new depot. “We want local contractors to get as much as possible out of our infrastructure spending and this is one simple, practical way council can help,” he said. “Whilst there is no guarantee that any individual business will be engaged it will bring to the attention of potential tenderers local businesses and the services which could be engaged in the construction project. “We will soon call for tenders for the construction of the new Grafton depot and it would be great if the principal contractor was from the valley, but even if that’s not possible, we’d like local sub contractors to get work from it.” Cr Williamson said those interested would need to get in early because council would close registrations for the database on April 29. People wanting to register should visit www.clarence.nsw.gov.au/contractorEOI and fill in the required documentation.
