Ed,
In reference to Kevin Hogans article in the CVI on 18/12/2024 (Abandoned Misinformation Bill a Victory for Democracy) The Misinformation Bill might be dead but now the World Health Organization (WHO) is coming for your freedom of speech.
If Australia doesn’t reject the WHO’s 2024 International Health Regulations (IHRs) by 1 April 2025, we’ll be forced to comply with new rules in the IHRs requiring us to tackle so-called “misinformation and disinformation.” If they’re not rejected, these regulations will become a binding international legal obligation for Australia and provide the perfect excuse for the Australia Government to introduce new anti-free speech censorship laws, just like the Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation Bill we recently defeated.
Right now, the Australian Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on Treaties is conducting an inquiry into these International Health Regulations. The Committee is taking public submissions until 23 January 2025, after which it will have some public hearings and then recommend whether Parliament should accept or reject the IHRs. This is our chance to stop this tyranny before it becomes binding on Australia.
These regulations explicitly state that countries must “develop, strengthen, and maintain core capacities” to address “misinformation and disinformation.”
That’s not public health—that’s censorship. Unelected bureaucrats from the WHO would pressure our government to silence Australians who dare to question their rules. Are you ready to lose your freedom of speech to globalist elites?
Are you willing to let the WHO decide what you can and cannot say? Maybe Kevin Hogan might wish to explain further in relation to this matter.
