Clean Up Australia Day 2025

Clarence Valley residents are being encouraged to get involved in Clean Up Australia Day 2025, with OzFish Unlimited hosting a free community event in Yamba on Sunday, March 2.

Participants are invited to meet at the Oyster Channel Bridge between 8:30-11:30am to help remove rubbish within the vicinity, which is also a popular fishing location.

Individuals will also be rewarded for their cleaning efforts with $100 vouchers up for grabs, and the chapter who collects the most rubbish on the day will be allocated $500 to spend on restoring their local fishing habitat.

Participants will also receive a complimentary lunch and will celebrate the conclusion of the event by selecting a good fishing spot and casting off.

Along with raising awareness of the importance of always taking your rubbish home with you when enjoying outdoor activities, the event is also aimed at promoting environmental protection.

A popular annual event, Clean Up Australia Day was first held 35 years ago.

During that time, more than 22 million Australians have pulled on rubber gloves and donated their time to help clean up and improve the environment and also help to protect native wildlife.
