Clarification: CVC Fit for the Future improvement strategies

In last week’s Independent it was stated in the story, ‘Councillors call for savings reports’, that Clarence Valley Council (CVC) was “$2,254,082 short on meeting its Fit for the Future savings commitment by the end of the 2020/21 financial year”.

It should have read “by the end of the 2019/20 year”.

The council is also required to find savings of $1,294,481 by the end of the 2020/21 financial year, a total of $3,548,563, to meet its Fit for the Future commitment.

In 2016, CVC adopted a schedule of “improvement opportunities” in its Fit for the Future Improvement Plan, which it submitted to the NSW Government.

“The plan aimed to detail the way in which CVC would achieve financial sustainability and meet the requirements of the government’s benchmarks ratios for local government,” a report advised councillors at the June 25, 2019 meeting.
