Clarence Valley biodiversity plan endorsed by council

The Biodiversity Strategy 2020-2025 has been adopted unanimously by Clarence Valley Councillors at its July meeting. The strategy aims to preserve and enhance the natural environment while promoting sustainable natural resource management.

Peter Birch manager of Open Spaces & Facilities said, “A total of 25 submissions were made by the community and it is clear from these that there is a high community expectation for us to protect the region’s biodiversity.”

“By approving this plan, we recognise the need to improve the protection of biodiversity and this strategy will help us achieve that.”

“The community quite rightly requires reassurance that we are carrying out our functions with biodiversity in mind. Monitoring our existing actions related to biodiversity and conservation would be beneficial and is a recommendation in the plan,” Mr Birch added.

Implementing the actions in this strategy will go a long way towards securing the protection important flora and fauna.
