Well done everyone who attended the car boot sale at the ‘Men’s Shed’ on Saturday, thanks to the guys on the brekky BBQ. The Men’s Shed has three current projects, wooden horses for Maclean Lion’s Club Merry-Go-Round, timber tree seats for Yamba Museum and small boxes for sunglasses. They’ve had several new members join, and invite retired men out there to join them, whether you want to join in helping on community projects, learn a new skill, make use of the huge range of equipment for your own jobs or just a place for a chin wag and cuppa you’ll be most welcome. Saturday May 14 sees the start of monthly workshops, open to both men’s and women’s groups. First off is ‘Intarsia mosaics’ on June 28 and turning wooden bowls with Bob in July. Thank you and bon voyage to former group leader Mick Burns, best wishes for your new venture. Welcome new group leader Brent Walsh, email bjej43@bigpond.com or call in to the shed at 130 Jubilee St Townsend on Tuesday or Thursday from 9am. ‘Reading and understanding the weather map’ is a new six weeks course with Bob Horwood, it starts Friday May 13, at Treelands Drive Community Centre, 2pm – 4pm limited to fifteen (15) places contact Bob on 6646 3955. Following their last class with Harry Westera when they painted Yamba’s old oyster shed and a wine bottle using only black, ‘Art on Friday’ had fun on April 22 with watercolours, “making the paint do the work”. Harry is a great teacher and they all learnt so much.
