Steve Jackson and Brad Johnson of Maclean have proven beyond doubt that they are the premier pairs lawn bowls combination in the Clarence River District when they captured the 2017 State Open Pairs Championship with a dominant display in the final against Benny Lee and Doug Starr, also from Maclean, on Sunday afternoon. Benny and Doug played well, however Steve and Brad consistently had the appropriate reply and answered every challenge with calmness and poise that was a joy for the throng of spectators to observe. Steve and Brad combined seamlessly with their games complementing each others in a display of true teamwork. Steve and Brad now advance to the Zone One play-offs and if they can repeat their performances during the CRDBA contest they will be difficult to beat.
