Last Saturday GDSC Bowling Club held the annual Chris Bennett Memorial carnival played under warm conditions, thankfully with a cool breeze. The format was three games of two bowl triples, there were 66 bowlers and some close and exciting games.
In round three the top positioned two teams were drawn to play against each other. Grafton team skipped by Mark Walsh went down to Jason Brooks team from Wooli in an exciting game.
The major prize winners were – first place and the $900 went to Wooli team of Brooks Blanch and Gilmore, second place team Holt, Henwood and Cameron, third place went to team Teare, Moerenhout and Cutts whilst fourth placed team was Harrison, Taylor and Ryan. There were prizes for fifth and sixth and three round winners. The total prize pool was $3,500.
Many thanks to sponsors Penrith Air, GDSC and Clarence Valley Council. We are all looking forward to the same event next year and already teams have nominated. The late Chris Bennett would be so content the day was a great success and that he is being honoured by his bowling mates and his family (who are one of the main sponsors).
