Charity and kindness are in the bag
Lynne Mowbray
This Christmas you have the power to make life a little bit better for a woman or girl experiencing homelessness or poverty, by donating a few personal care items, in a bag.
Share the Dignity’s ‘It’s in the Bag’ Christmas collection kicks off on November 18 and runs until December 2.
If you have an old handbag that is still in good condition that you no longer use, why not pop in a few day to day essentials; soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant and sanitary items along with anything else that may be useful. You could also include something to help make them feel special like makeup or a small gift.
Many homeless women have fled domestic violence situations and anything you could give to make them feel worthwhile and cared about, would go to make their Christmas just a little bit brighter.
Drop off point for bags in the Clarence Valley are: Chemist Warehouse in Grafton, Blooms Chemist in Grafton Shoppingworld and in Maclean, Stanford’s Pharmacy and Pulse Fitness.
Organisers are still looking for more volunteers to help out in the Grafton, Yamba and Iluka areas.
For anyone wanting to volunteer or seeking more information, contact Liz Robinson on 6645 5882 or 0403 157 790.
