Changed traffic conditions on Wollumbin Street at Murwillumbah

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from next week on Wollumbin Street at Murwillumbah to carry out maintenance work on the bridge over the Tweed River.

Work to be carried out from Monday 20 September includes minor repairs to the pedestrian walkway, graffiti removal, repair to the bridge deck and joints, removal of debris from around piers, bearing maintenance, and some painting and erosion control, ensuring the bridge remains in good condition for motorists.

Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place during work hours, from 7am to 6pm on weekdays, for the safety of workers and motorists.

To reduce impact to motorists, work requiring a partial closure of the bridge will be carried out overnight from 6pm to 7am on Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 September when traffic will be reduced to one lane, alternating flow.

The bridge will reopen by 7am on Friday 24 September and all work is expected to be complete by Friday 1 October, weather permitting.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
