Celebrating great nursing at Mareeba Aged Care

Every year International Nurses Day is celebrated on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. And at Mareeba Aged Care in Maclean it is a special day that recognises the tremendous and often unheralded role nurses play in the care of our community.

“We are blessed to have beautiful nursing staff,” said Mareeba’s Director of Nursing, Rachel Bennett. “It takes a special person to be a nurse and I believe they deserve every appreciation afforded to them,” she said.

“Residential aged care nurses need to deliver quality nursing skills and a warmth and character that provides great comfort and care to residents and their families,” said Ms. Bennett.

With an increasing trend in aged care to provide down the phone nursing support for residents at night, at Mareeba residents are supported with onsite registered nursing care 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

“I think it’s comforting for families to know their loved ones receive onsite fully qualified nursing support at all times,” said Mareeba’s Director of Nursing Rachel Bennett.
