Catholic Healthcare St Francis Aged Care proudly celebrated 30 years of service to the Clarence Valley community on August 7.

Built with love and devotion, and quaintly situated amongst Grafton’s leafy suburbia, the facility is renowned for providing care and support of the highest quality, with their core values centred on the physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing of their residents.

While their success dates back more than 150 years to their religious founders who were unified in their vision to help the sick and the poor, Catholic Healthcare was founded on July 21, 1994, when the Bishops of NSW and ACT signed the foundation decree.

Today, the single-storey dwelling is a warm and vibrant environment which caters to more than 40 residents who happily joined staff and visiting dignitaries during a celebratory lunch last week.

A founding member of St Francis Aged Care, Bill Dougherty said it was a pleasure to visit the facility for the milestone anniversary.

“I’m so glad this facility continues to be well supported, and it is a credit to the wonderful staff and the residents who call this place their home,” he said.

While Catholic Healthcare CEO Josh McFarlane extended his congratulations via a video message, which was played during the celebrations, he spoke of the significance of the occasion and said it was wonderful to acknowledge 30 years of service to the local community.

“This (St Francis Aged Care) is a place where people feel valued and safe,” he said.

“The trustees and board of Catholic Healthcare are proud that the love of God continues to be expressed everyday through the actions of our people.

“As we reflect on our humble beginnings, and consider the scale of our services today, I am in awe of how much our wonderful organisation has achieved.

“As we look to the future, we will continue to adapt our services to the changing needs and preferences of the people we serve.”

Chair of Trustees for Catholic Healthcare Patrick Cooper graciously acknowledged staff for their ongoing care and support while extending his appreciation to Residential Manager Sandra Winters for her long-standing service and dedication to St Francis Aged Care.

After guests were cordially invited to participate in prayers of thanksgiving and a scripture reading, Ms Winters presented service awards to members of staff in recognition of their ongoing contributions before inviting everyone to join in an afternoon tea.
