Residents of and visitors to Yamba will enjoy increased levels of community safety after the NSW Police and Clarence Valley Council collaborated in late 2024 to install closed-circuit television CCTV cameras around the town.
The initiative comes after concerns of anti-social behaviour were raised by the community and Council moved to install CCTV cameras in key locations around Yamba identified by police.
The CCTV camera installation builds on Council’s 2023-2026 Clarence Valley Crime Prevention Strategy where Council and the Coffs Clarence Police District work collaboratively on crime prevention efforts.
Clarence Valley Council’s General Manager Laura Black expressed her support for this important milestone in the strategy’s implementation.
“While CCTV alone cannot prevent crime, it is a valuable tool for law enforcement in the conduct investigations,” she said.
“Crime prevention and community safety are a shared responsibility, requiring the collective efforts of everyone, If You See Something Say Something.”
During the summer holiday season, residents and visitors are reminded to secure their cars, homes, and campsites, and keep valuables safe.
If you notice any suspicious activity or anti-social behaviour, please report it to the police.
