CCDBC celebrate ‘World Compliment Day’

March 1 was World Compliment Day. It is not commercially oriented so everyone can afford to participate.

World Compliment Day simply addresses the basic human need for recognition and appreciation. Nobody wins commercially, but everyone gains emotionally. And therein lies its power. It costs nothing, but the impact on the recipient is huge.

After launching from Witonga boat ramp, in near perfect conditions – outgoing tide and ESE winds, CCDBC paddlers returned to shore and enjoyed the bi-monthly sausage sizzle. They also dug deep into the compliment box and withdrew a compliment. So easy and with each compliment read you could see a smile spread across the persons face.

Members were encouraged to pay at least three people in his/her environment or social network a genuine sincere compliment throughout the week to come. CCDBC would like to extend the challenge to all.

Why don’t you give dragon boating a go? Join us on Wednesday 3.30pm and/or Saturdays 7.30am at the Yamba boat ramp.

It’s a whole body workout. Your legs are the anchor, while the muscles in your arms, shoulders and back drag the paddle through the water; great for strengthening your abs and core. Cardiovascular fitness: your endurance and stamina will quickly build from training and your coordination will improve.

But benefits are mental too. People do it for enjoyment and relaxation.
