Cathryn Aitchison takes back Yamba Club Championship

Saturday June 12

Saw the clash of the Titans – with our current Club Champion Helen Atkinson versus an old hand and earlier Club Champion Cathryn Aitchison in the final determining round of the Club Major Singles. The game was bound to be entertaining, and as expected, scores remained at a constant tit-for-tat – with Helen picking up an early 4 shots on the 4th end and getting ahead to a 7-3 lead. But Cathryn fought back levelling on the 8th end. And this was the pattern of the game until on the 23rd end Cathryn retaliated with a 4 stretching the lead to 7 and sitting comfortably on 24 with a 7-shot lead. Though Helen took the next end taking her score to 19 – it was Cathryn who sealed the deal picking up the 1 shot she needed to take the game and the title – Cathryn Aitchison Club Champion 2021. Congratulations to both players on a very entertaining game and thanks to all officials throughout the competition.
