Car into Richmond River at Ballina

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter has returned to base following the search for a car that went into the Richmond River at South Ballina around midday. It’s believed there were two occupants in the vehicle, with one currently unaccounted for.

Multiple emergency services were activated including NSW Police; ASNSW; SES; Marine Rescue NSW and Surf Life Saving Australia. There were a number of general duties NSW Police officers who went into the water to search for the car, along with a surf life saver from the SLSA jet rescue boat and the helicopter ASNSW CCP paramedic.
