Brooms Head bowls ‘Pink’ fundraiser

With the sun finally shinning on Brooms Head greens we were able to get a number of club championships matches played.

In earlier played games in A Grade Pairs, Reg Austin & Sparra Colley d Erika Kooloos & Gary Powell; Rob Woldseth & Lance Pedrana d Bob Rae & Stephen Matheson.

A Singles played Sunday morning saw ‘Sparra’ Colley d Scott Swain (by three shots); Mick McCarthy d Dean Opalniuk. In B Grade, ‘Crinkles’ Ford d Robyn McCarthy, well played Dean and Crinkles on their first championship game, Dean going down by three shots, and a win for Crinkles. Robyn, the first lady to play in BH club singles played good bowls, she was in the lead early, but Crinkles fired up and went on to win.

Also, on March 12 we finally got to run our Pink Breast Cancer fundraiser. It was an enormous success with 60 patrons on the greens in all their pink outfits, a wonderful day was had by all, and we raised $3300 for the Breast Cancer Network Australia. Thank you to all the local businesses that donated great prizes for the raffles, thank you to Maclean/Yamba Fair Butcher for the sausages, the day finished off with great dancing to ‘2way Street’.
