Brenton Tarrant to spend life behind bars

The 29 old Australian terrorist who carried out the March 2019 Christchurch mosque attacks has been sentenced to life without parole.

Brenton Tarrant pleaded guilty to 51 charges of murder, 40 counts of attempted murder and one charge of terrorism in March this year.

The former Grafton resident will spend his entire life behind bars with no chance of parole.

The sentence was the first time in New Zealand that parole has been refused and Tarrant is the first terrorist ever convicted in the country.
