Braves warming up

The sun was working hard to get everyone toasty last Tuesday September 7 morning and the small battalion of Braves at Maclean Golf Club enjoyed every minute of it.

The happy group of battlers were converted from rugged up pussies to sunburnt winners after their nine holes of Stableford action at the Maclean Golf Club on the front 9 holes.

Results

Bruce Johnston sent everyone out in a shot-gun start and we all completed the course with plenty of time (as far regulations allowed) for a chat afterwards.

Our old buddies Garry Stockwell and his wife Colleen were back to clean up after a long absence and what a job they did…Garry winning with 23 points to snaffle the bottle of Dorian Estate vintage Riesling and Colleen with 19 points grabbing third spot. Welcome back team.

Denise Paten came in second with 20 well-earned points to finally grace the top of the scoreboard. Onya Denise, thanks for your support too.

Bunched up behind Denise, on 19 points, were Marilyn Hopkins, Linda Goodwin (and Collen Stockwell who, by the way, also scored the NTP on the 7th for another prize). The other NTP on the 2nd won by Julie Campbell.

Players prizes included; golfballs x 6, movie passes, chocolates and restaurant passes. Thanks to all our sponsors (Sassafras Restaurant, Italian on the Hill Restaurant, Capreberry Cafe and Yamba Cinema)

Quick reminder; please remember to check for adjustments in your handicaps next time you play… as well as ask for details of match scoring/competition categories if you’re unsure of the events for the day.

We often play Stableford and count putts but now we expect players on 25 or under to only have one shot for NTP’s. All players on higher handicaps have the luxury of two shots to register their closest measurement. See you Tuesday at 8.30am for our next event at Maclean Country Golf Club
