Ed,
While listening to Bob Hawke’s granddaughter Sophie Taylor-Price’s very eloquent speech at his memorial service I couldn’t help but wonder what were all those past and present politicians/climate change deniers thinking or maybe even feeling.
The footage of Hawke with Sophie 30 years ago talking to the nation of the need to act on climate change for the sake of our children made me want to weep. She spoke of his profound regret that Australia had failed to act.
Our young students who have been protesting in the streets re the inaction on climate change by successive governments can take heart from this young woman’s speech. What an incredible shame Australia did not take more notice of what Bob had to say 30 years ago.
