Bill Shorten to attend community forum in Lismore

Labor candidate Janelle Saffin has announced that Bill Shorten will attend a Community Forum in Lismore. “Bill will be discussing Labor’s positive plans including better paid and better protected Aussie jobs; our plans for better schools with great teachers and our commitment to renewable energy. “I’m so pleased that Bill accepted my invitation to visit our area and hear first-hand from locals.” “We’ll be discussing how Malcolm Turnbull and the Nationals plan to cut Medicare and cut penalty rates and bring in $100,000 university degrees that will hurt families in our region. Bill will be drawing attention to the Nationals unfair cuts including: • Cutting penalty rates which will slash the pay of local workers • Increase the GST to 15% which will see household costs rise by almost $4000 a year • $650 million cuts to vital bulk billing medical services which means locals will have to pay for pap smears, blood tests, x-rays and ultrasounds • $100,000 university degrees “There’ll also be a Question and Answer session so locals can talk directly to Bill about their issues, ” Janelle said. With a federal election on the horizon, I invite locals to come along and ask the questions that really matter to you and your community. Date: Thursday 10 March 2016 Time: 12 midday Venue: Lismore City Town Hall, 1 Bounty Street, Lismore Contact: Janelle Saffin 0418 664 001.
