Big numbers for Westlawn golf

I cannot believe that the Westlawn Golf Club hit a PB on Sunday with 50 players turning up to take on the front nine in an individual Stableford event.

With all the COVID 19 restrictions that are around I thought we would be lucky to have 15 to 20 players a week but the fields have consistence been in the high 30’s and 40’s and I think this is mainly due to Jasons great organisation and active membership drive, great job Jason.

With the course in such great condition the good scores just keep coming and the best score on Sunday was a very good 25 points from Div 2 winner Graham Jackson closely followed by Mark Newman with 24 points, next best was Terry Ord, Wal Hambly and Greg Duffy all with 22 points and Ron Jenkin and Meredith Corrigan with 21 points. There were another six players, David Morgan, Geoff Gilbert, Di Alderman, Alan Atkinson Nev Winters and Leonie Gardiner all on 20 points.

With scores like these it is no wonder that no less than 13 players have had their handicap trimmed by the handicapper (who has always got a smile on his face). There were two players who received shots back, this is unheard of but good luck to Terry Ord and Peter Sutton, they both got one shot back.

Next Sunday we will tackle the back nine with a four person Ambrose event. Keep an eye out for the tee time text.
