Back to the new normal for Grafton women golfers

An exuberant 62 women arrived on Wednesday for an 18 hole Stableford, sponsored by Hair Worx. There was plenty of run and some excellent scores were returned, seems the lockdown hasn’t kerb their enthusiasm. 

The overall winner Sue Byrnes, who played consistent golf right up to the last hole to record 43 points, but had to contend with a c/b to get the prize; with Kerry Harding also on 43 getting the Div 2 winner’s trophy from r/up Di Chapman 36pts from Brenda Cooper also on 36.

Div 1 went to Janette Blair with 41 from r/up Hollie Fuller on 37 on a c/b from Elaine Shand. 

Div 3 and Sue Blake had the top round of 42pts with r/up Cheryl Creighton 38 on a c/b from Jean Milne.

NTP’s: Sue Byrnes on 1st; 6th Cheryl Creighton; 10th Di Chapman; 17th June Newsome. 

Ball competition went to those players with score of 33 points on a c/b.

Matchplay

The first round of the Handicap Matchplay has now been completed.

In Div 1, Peg James defeated Jane Wolfe 1 up; Sue Petty defeated Sharyn O’Grady 2 up; Kathy McMullan defeated Janette Blair 1 up. 

Div 2 saw Noeline Smith defeat Judy McFarlane 2 up; Shirley Goodger defeated Robyn Wilkes 2 up; Kerry Harding defeated Sharyn Rowles 2 up. 

In Div 3 Margaret Manahan won from Lisa Hunt on the 20th hole. Brenda Cooper won on a forfeit from Roya Smith and Julie White defeated Sue Blake on the 19th hole. 

Round 2 is now under way so good luck to all.

Note

As from Sunday September 12 you may play in groups of four. You will be able to have two to a cart. 

Presentations will be held on Wednesday after games have been completed and it will be lovely to have a catch up a cool refreshment and a yummy lunch from our chef Dean, who will have his kitchen up and running again. You will still have to abide by some restrictions – mask to be on if not drinking or eating and the 1.5 metre rule still applies. You must also be seated in the Clubhouse, but you can stand outside.
