Geoff Helisma

The Independent asked Australia Post how it was planning to address “the potential increase in customer numbers, particularly in the case of extra ‘cash’ banking by CBD businesses, given that queues at the PO are often long already”?

Australia Post responded in an email: “Attributable to an Australia Post spokesperson:

“We have more than 3,500 post offices across the country offering Bank@Post services, including more than 1,800 in rural and remote locations, helping people in these areas with their banking needs.

“The Maclean Post Office team has been assisting customers, including small businesses to conveniently make withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries for some time and will continue to support the local community with access to these services.

“Background information (not attributable): Bank@Post services are also available at nearby Harwood Island and Lawrence post offices.

“A full list of participating financial institutions, along with further information about our services can be found at auspost.com.au/banking.”
