A wooden hulled fishing trawler sank in Yamba’s boat harbour last week, only metres from where another converted fishing trawler sank last month. The trawler ‘Claudia Rose’ which is owned by Yamba professional fisherman David Smith sank during the early hours of Thursday morning. Mr Smith said that his trawler had been scheduled to undergo repair work. “It was going to be slipped next week,” said Mr Smith. “I have all the new planks at home, all ready to go. “The cause was pump failure, the power tripped out.” Mr Smith said that his trawler is in the hands of Maritime, who are looking after it now.
