Another strong result for Grafton hockey

Grafton Hockey Association continues to punch above its weight at NSW State Championships, with the Under 15 Girls team finishing second in the 1st Div competition on the weekend.

The girls adjusted well to the challenging competition, as well as the frosty weather of Lithgow. With Grafton players used to playing in temps in the low 20s, the maximum temperatures of just 6-8 degrees were something the team worked hard to ignore.

The Grafton girls competed strongly in the round games to finish top of their pool. They faced Sydney East in the semi-final and qualified for the grand-final with a strong performance, winning 2-0. Their opposition in the grand-final was Northern Sydney and Beaches who had progressed to the grand-final undefeated. The Grafton girls worked hard and fought until the final whistle but went down 2-1 to a very well drilled Northern Sydney and Beaches team. Congratulations to all the players and support people for this excellent result.
