Another day in paradise for the Bravehearts, never mind the weather

The Braves, (with smaller numbers than usual) were out in force again on Tuesday 16, just before the prolonged deluge.

We took on the the first nine holes at Maclean Country Golf Club in a Stableford event in threatening conditions. The band of Bravehearts just finished before the skies opened up and the winner was mild-mannered Clem Rhoden with 20 great points…. The bottle of Champagne was a fitting celebratory prize for his sterling score. In second place, with 18 points, were Sonia Bonaccorsi (golf shoe bag and jar of Dr John’s Superhot Chili special) and John Hopkins (who chose the biscuit barrel and golf shoe kit). They were playing very consistent and smart golf.

NTP’s were won by John Hopkins at one metre (Lawrence Tavern $25 voucher) and Bruce Johnston ($25 Botero coffee card) also one metre from hole.

Meanwhile the rest of us mere mortals struggled with the odd spot of rain and spongy lies… we barely managed to get double figures.

All players enjoyed a peanut butter biscuit from John’s ‘barrel’ and went home dry as a bone, happy to have had a hit before the storms hit and ahead of major annual golf course maintenance.

On Tuesday the greens will be cored so we are playing Friday February 26 in the afternoon instead, so join us at 2.30-3pm for tee off at MCGC. All players welcome so join us for a bash.
Many thanks to Caperberry Cafe, Yamba Cinema, Italian on the Hill Restaurant, Munro Machines, for golf cart repairs and Tartan Pizza for their generous ongoing support.

Happy golfer Sonia Bonaccorsi asking the question, “rain? ….what rain? It was wet and it was dry with the odd rainbow in the sky. She has a magic way of expressing herself. Image: contributed.
