Adam Pearce has really made the most of our last swim of 2024, winning both the Wykes Tyrepower cup and the 25 metres freestyle final.
The Wykes cup, for the final of the 25 metres breaststroke, backstroke or butterfly, is held on the last Tuesday evening swim of the month. The four contestants were Adam, David Moon, Natalie Durrington and Richard Sear.
Swimming butterfly, Adam was first to reach the wall and triumphed with a good time of 16.14 from a nominated 17 seconds. Well done, Adam!
The 50 metres freestyle final saw Jenny Vickery, Sharon Lentfer, Damien O’Mahony and Andrew Madden lining up to compete. Jenny was the first to dive in and led all the way, only to record a disqualification. Marno suffered the same fate. The winner was Andrew, with Sharon taking second place.
Sharon took to the water again for the 25 metres freestyle final. Joining her were Adam, David and Steve Donnelly. It was a hard – fought close race, but Adam won, with Steve second and David in third place. Sharon was unlucky not to achieve a podium finish.
We commenced swimming again on Tuesday January 7 at the South Grafton pool. We hope that you all had a very happy Christmas and New Year and that 2025 will be a good year for you all.
