A fair reason to celebrate 10 years in business

Located in Yamba Fair, one of the most popular locally owned and managed businesses in the Lower Clarence will celebrate a significant milestone this week.

Describing himself as pretty stoked by the occasion, Yamba based butcher Chris O’Connor said Wednesday, December 11, will commemorate the 10th Anniversary of his purchasing the retail meat premises.

With close to two decades of industry experience, Mr O’Connor has witnessed a number of changes through the years including the increase in demand for ready-made meals.

But one thing which hasn’t changed is the community’s ongoing support of The Fair Butcher.

“Our focus has always been community orientated,” Mr O’Connor said,

“Without the support of the locals, we wouldn’t be here doing what we love to do, and they’re the reason we’re celebrating 10 years with the business.

“We have a lot of regular customers, and we’d really like to thank everyone who has been supporting us for so long.

“It means a lot to us, and it’s a pleasure to serve everyone and help everyone out.”

Since purchasing The Fair Butcher, the business has also increased its range of locally sourced products.

“All our beef is supplied to us straight off the farm in Nymboida, and that’s something we’re really proud of,” Mr O’Connor said.

“Being able to support local producers and showcase the high quality products we have in our own backyard, it’s great, and our customers really appreciate it.

“Coming up to Christmas, we’re seeing an increase in demand for a lot of barbeque products and pork products, and its quite a busy time for us which is to be expected.

“We currently employ six full time staff, four casuals, and four juniors, and yeah, we’ll probably all get together and celebrate with a birthday cake on Wednesday.”

As he looks forward to the next 10 years, Mr O’Connor said The Fair Butcher remains committed to the Lower Clarence community and will continue its sponsorship with local sports clubs.

“To be here and to be part of the community, it means a lot to us,” he said.

The Fair Butcher is open between 7am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, from 7am – 4pm on Saturdays, and from 7am – 3pm on Sundays.
